4 star due to scheduling issues I had and having to call to get the work completed.Joe Crossfield/David Gaskins/Larry and crew were great.Joe was the sales guy that came out to quote us for the work. He was very polite and was honest about what needed to be done. He didn’t upsell us on any add ons and helped us save a little bit of money by offering alternatives for the encapsulation project.Larry and crew: they came and did the work and did a great job. Cleaned up after themselves and completed the work. Not sure if it was the day or the overwhelming work the crew had, but I felt like I was rushed when I asked questions and felt like an inconvenience when I did asked questions. So I didn’t appreciate that.David Gaskins: was polite and explained how to clean the dehumidifier and all that. Explained what the RH% should be in the crawlspace and showed me how to work the dehumidifier. I originally called because I wanted my encapsulated crawlspace to be at 40% RH but it wasn’t getting there. He explained to me that it is possible for the machine to get down that low but explained the issue that I may have with my foundation and wood beam. He was very honest and did not rush me when I was asking the questions.Cons:-After paying the deposit, I had to give the office a call to schedule my appointment. I would think that they would call me to schedule and get it on the books, but that did not happen.-the scheduler scheduled the encapsulation, but not the electricians subcontractor. You would think that they should schedule the electrician first before the work so that the work is totally complete once the crew comes. I ended up calling the office, getting the phone number to the electricians, and calling the electricians myself to get something scheduled since the office could only email the subcontractor to be put on the books.

We had JES repair one side of our sinking foundation years ago and they did a fantastic job. When we recently saw wall cracks on the opposite side of the house, we immediately called them. They are incredibly responsive and so trustworthy. Jay came out, did a thorough inspection, and explained that we had a door problem, not a foundation problem. He also confirmed that JES’s years old fix our our foundation is perfect. We are so relieved to have the piece of mind that JES provides and appreciated Jay’s professionalism, comprehensiveness, and the fact that he went above and beyond (he even did a temporary fix for my door!).

The team who fixed our support beams/foundation was wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about Freddy Zavaleta, Walter Zavaleta, and Jaime Salas who did the repairs: they were friendly, timely, and did wonderful work. Also, the permit team at JES really helped us when we still hadn’t received word from the city and it had been 6 weeks (and my husband and I had been sleeping on the couch and floor because the support beams were so bad under our room). Thank you to the entire team!

Our home had some foundation issues and JES provided a very thorough assessment and fair quote for the work. They took care of all of the prework requirements (permits, soil samples, etc.) and showed up on schedule to execute the placement of half a dozen push piers along one side of our home. The crew (Mr. E. Aguilara, Mr. A. Fernandez, and Mr. J. Diaz) provided outstanding customer service, took great care to avoid our irrigation lines during the excavation process, and kept our family informed every step of the way. Upon completion of the work, they left the site in great condition and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend this team!

The personnel at JES Foundation Repair Ashland were consummate professionals from the beginning of the process to the end. Our 90-plus-year-old house was sinking by 2" in its middle, so it was imperative that we right the foundation. Tice, utilizing high-tech equipment, assiduously inspected our house for a full four hours, going through every possible detail in a comprehensive and fully comprehensible way–including his offering of affordable financing. In addition, he kept in contact with us every step of the way, patiently answering our multitudinous queries and most importantly aiding us in navigating the permitting process through Albemarle county. Roberto and Oscar, who did the install of a dozen beams and a sump pump, were highly knowledgeable, had numerous years of experience, and worked tirelessly in their doing of a superior job on site; they also did a nice job of cleaning up on the last day. Materials were of the highest quality–there was no cutting corners with JES. All went seamlessly from the beginning of the process to its culmination. I have no reservations whatsoever about JES Foundation and the work they did, and would unhesitatingly recommend them to anyone–the peace of mind they brought us, knowing that our house's foundation is once again stable, is priceless.

My original appointment was to be on a Friday at 2pm. JES texted me the Monday prior asking if I would like to change the appointment to Tuesday at 2, which was great. The inspector, Jay called early Tuesday to see if we could meet at 1130. Jay showed up on time and we immediately dug into the issue…a likely sunken corner foundation of my carport. Jay covered all the possible solutions, went thru the warranty, timing, cost, etc. At no point did I feel pressured to make a decision and Jay conducted himself in a pleasant and professional manor.

I am only giving Ground Works a 4 star review because of the Gentleman who did the job. Kidd Smith and the crew he was with did AMAZING work and were extremely helpful and respectful in every way!!! I can’t say enough about how amazing their work was. When it comes to the actual company itself they are very arrogant, never did I receive a call back when I needed to speak with them. I had contacted them 2x and NOT ONCE did they return my calls or even acknowledge that I had called. The supervisor “Dan,” was very arrogant on the phone when he accused me of trying to not pay!! Then a Kate called me not long after asking about payment and was not very nice and obviously can’t hear. I explained that when the job was finished I would then write out the check for the remaining balance and that paying over the phone through debit or credit card was not an option. This was explained from the beginning when I sat down and signed all the paperwork and contract. They are not very professional and they definitely don’t know how to communicate between themselves or with clients!!! Kidd Smith and crew Thank you for the AMAZING job done on my sidewalk!!!!

I had an issue with what I thought was an awful leak behind my vanity. I called on Friday LATE afternoon, and the sweet receptionist Jorden was very empathetic and was able to get me seen within a day. Lee was AMAZING. He knew everything and was able to recreate the noises I heard and reassure this busy mom here that does nothing but worry that we didn't have an issue. He went into details over and over for me, and was so patient and so nice. I will never hire another company other than these guys. They gave me not only my peace of mind back, but they're the real deal, and very down to Earth. Incredible service!!!!

I've now had JES complete two projects in my exposed crawlspace. Both times, they have added adjustable jacks on top of footers and either replaced a main beam or added a supplemental metal I Beam. I've been extremely impressed with their quality of work, timeliness, and efficiency. They show up ready to work and are sure to ask questions if needed. I spent time with both crews down in the crawl space and appreciated their professionalism and willingness to make things right.Foreman: Jaime CastilloAntonio CanalesJose Rafael GarciaThe only thing I was not pleased with was how little the office side of things kept in touch with me prior to pinning down this second date. I was told on multiple occasions I'd be receiving an update from the office and each time I had to call them. Would do business with again in the future.

My experience was great. JB worked with us up front to get all of the preliminary things in place and help us understand what needed to be done, how it was going to be done, and was always accessible when I had questions. When the job got started there were two unexpected situations. They pivoted quickly, included me in the decision that needed to be made, and worked it from there. Jose led the work and was amazing. He was extremely helpful, took time to walk me through what was going to be done, answer my questions, and keep me informed along the way. Add to that his great attitude and it was a good experience all around.

We had a great experience with JES! They came out and encapsulated our crawl space we have had ground water issues for a long time. Our crawl space was covered in water, mud, and mold. We have even had other companies come to give us a quote that refused to go down there. The work crew was amazing we had Cory m, Shaine C. And Chris jr out they were hard working on time and kind and very communicative. We even had questions after the job was complete they always responded. I was on the fence about hiring this contractor because of the mix reviews but I am happy we did I am no longer freaking out because I smell mold in my home. However this was a very expensive fix JES is not cheap but they got the work done

JES did a fantastic job with the crawlspace. Removed old materials, installed a crawl drain and sump pump system, and then encapsulated the area with a dehumidifier. Bijon Simpson especially was a very hard working foreman. He stayed until the job was complete, working by himself for several hours late into the night to ensure all tasks were completed and to my satisfaction. Anything small I noticed that needed to be revised per the contract, he did it flawlessly. Definitely would recommend Bijon Simpson and JES on any crawlspace work.

They had a great presentation to show me why the basement had water coming in it and why the wall was caving in. They also showed me how this could be fixed and that this would be a smooth process. We have been struggling with ground water in our basement for years but assumed it would require excavation around the outside of our home which we really did not want to do as we have some very old shrubs. After a visit from Damon Trent, we were pleased to find out that the problem could be solved from inside our home. The crew of Thomas Reamer, Sam Leap, Ramon Goard and Jason Wall arrived on time, were very professional and polite. Of course it rained throughout the day and were wet, muddy and hot. They worked tirelessly throughout the day and did not leave until 9:00 p.m. We are very impressed with the level of competence and dedication by the entire team and recommend them highly. I recently understood what the cracks in the walls meant. *sigh* I did some research and contacted JES Foundation. I got an immediate response and inspection date. The team sent Michael Kim to assess my issue. Now, finding out that your house is shifting is not good news. Why? Cost? Fear? Is my house going to sink? However, Mike (Michael Kim of the Manassas office in VA) (hope he doesn't mind if I call him Mike) was very good at keeping me calm. He was very knowledgeable, kind and patient. I appreciate his dedication to his clients and his attention to detail and overall professionalism. I appreciate everything that has happened up to this date. I suspect I will be happy with the overall service. Greatly appreciated.

Bradley was on time and very friendly. Even after we determined that the service I was looking for isn’t a service JES provides and I felt like I had wasted his time he remained professional and pleasant and assured me it was no trouble and he was happy to take a look around while he was here to see if there were any concerns that he could inform me about.Although I won’t be using this company for this project, I am pleased with experience and will definitely consider JES for future needs if they arise.(the service I was wanting: to have an egress window cut into the basement foundation)Update 12/7/22 – Bradley just called me and informed me that he found someone who may be able to help with the egress window. He definitely went above and beyond!

My experience with Groundworks was great. My project involved releveling segments of a large patio and driveway area that had experienced settling and cracking at some of the joints and across some of the pads. Tommy came out and inspected the job, informed me of the process and the expected end result. The 5 yr warranty on the work sold me! After accepting the quote and scheduling the work the crew, Alex Campbell, Manny E and Damien A arrived onsite on time and we got started. Most notable for me was how the crew involved me and communicated with me throughout the entire job. They were professional, knowledgeable and polite. We started with a site inspection and discussed my expectations, then they filed me in on the process and then got to work. At every critical juncture of the job they engaged me to ensure my satisfaction with process and result. At the end of the day they exceeded all of my expectations and I was very satisfied with the result. I was so impressed with the work that while onsite we added to the scope of the job and they reinforced another slab in another area of the yard to ensure the location would hold up to the increased loading. I would highly recommend Groundworks for your concrete leveling job!

Our Certified Field Inspector, Matthew Grosse, did an exceptional job!! After thoroughly inspecting our foundation and crawl space, he provided detailed photos of the entire area, walked us through the issues and gave us a comprehensive plan to mitigate the problems with our foundation and crawlspace. He explained the permit process, the work to be performed, and the expected outcome. He answered all of my questions and made me feel good about the project. I want to especially acknowledge the team who performed most of the work on a daily basis: Jose Lopez, Daniel Yacila, and Jesus Baires. These three gentlemen knew the work. To start, Our Sales representative Blaine Harvey was very professional. Did a complete inspection of the property. Made a few recommendations but really focused and addressed our concern/problem areas. This is greatly appreciated.Roberto and Jose Martinez, the installation crew were very polite and professional as well. Addressed all concerns and answered every question showing their expertise in the field. They were very clean throughout the installation. Under the house was left better than before. We had plastic underneath but needed to be removed in order for them to work. Did not expect them to re-line the ground upon completion but they used heavy duty plastic as a replacement. This is greatly appreciated. It is always the little things that make the difference in projects to homeowners. I would like to also mention Jo in the Richmond area office. Was very helpful in getting the information on the account up to date and taking the payment over the phone. Very well spoken and appreciate the small chit chat. She was a tremendous asset. JES did an excellent job on our crawl space. We had water accumulating around the whole perimeter of the crawl space. We had also had a toilet leak causing black mold, which had been professionally cleaned up, but we wanted fresh insulation. The JES team arrived on schedule and worked diligently to remove the insulation above and the flimsy plastic that covered the earthen floor of the crawl space. They then laid rubber matting and white membrane over the dirt and put thick styrofoam on the walls. They dug a trench around the perimeter and installed 2 sump pumps and 2 humidifiers to deal with future water. Meanwhile a separate team arrived to put foam under our patio to stop it from sliding away from the house. Everyone called before they arrived and each member of this large team was always professional and answered all questions thoroughly. They cleaned up well each day which I thoroughly appreciate. I highly recommend this team of hard workers.

We had JES encapsulate our crawl space. All of the insulation had fallen down and the floor was not protected. The crew that came out to do our install (John, Paibai and Mohammad) were fantastic. They did a great job and worked very quickly. They kept me informed of what they were doing and how it was going. The transformation is incredible. I want to thank them for their hard work and great attitudes. They took great pride in making sure everything looked good and was done correctly. We were very pleased with the prompt, courteous, efficient and professional response for service on our Basement Dehumidifier Unit performed by Christopher Phillips on behalf of the JES team today. The unit was initially expertly installed by Andrew Alman with JES and has performed exceptionally well until recently. Mr. Phillips was able to perform a comprehensive diagnostic survey to uncover a problem and to restore complete function. Within minutes our ambient relative humidity was restored and our basement environment improved. JES is fortunate to have Mr. Phillips on the team and we greatly appreciate competent and professional attention to customer service .
