"JES installed my sump pump in October 2023. Today (9/25/24) was my annual maintenance appointment to be sure that everything was working well with it. My technician, Ben, contacted me on 9/24/24 to check in with me on any possible issues that he needed to be made aware of prior to my appointment as well as to confirm my appointment. Very professional and polite. Fast forward to the appointment, Ben arrived on time, once again was very professional. I showed him where it was installed so he could get to work. Unbeknownst to both Ben and I, well there was no power going to the sump pump. That was as easy as flipping a switch on the breaker box. Then, Ben noticed a leak in the piping that was installed when the sump pump was installed. Ben ended up having to cut my drywall in which JES will incur the cost to repair it back. But this was nothing he couldn’t handle although he did have to make an unexpected run to Home Depot/Lowes to get the tool needed to cut the pipe. Ben returned in a decent amount of time and got right to work. Ben repaired the pipe, cleaned the sump pump bucket, and ensured everything was working correctly. Towards the end of the appointment, Ben made a few recommendations and ending up finding out that the piping that is coming out of the from of my house that pushes the water out was installed incorrectly and was not was I paid for. Therefore, Ben made a call to his supervisor, Megan Hartman, to put her on notice about this issue as well. Ben assured me that someone from the service department would reach out to me to schedule repairs for the piping outside as well as the wall repair. Overall, I would give Ben a 10/10 and would highly recommend him as your service tech. He made sure to answer any questions I had to the best of his ability, remain professional, kept me informed throughout the whole appt, valued me as a paying customer, and advised me that if I had any further questions after this appt that I shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to him. Ben was AWESOME‼️ Note: Pics are from the installation back in October 2023."

Types of Driveway Damage in Pikesville

Common Causes of your Driveway Problems in Pikesville

Have you been noticing any unsightly cracks or uneven surfaces in your driveway? Driveways in your area can experience issues due to environmental factors that involve soil shifts and weather patterns. Pikesville, with its variable climate and seasonal temperature changes, presents unique challenges for homeowners maintaining driveways. As temperatures fluctuate, the soil underneath your driveway can expand and contract, leading to uneven barriers and eventual cracking. Moreover, areas with poor drainage exacerbate moisture retention, contributing to soil instability and surface damage. Notably, some driveways in our region are more prone to these issues due to the nature of local soil compositions and layouts.

When these environmental factors set the stage for driveway problems, it's crucial to understand how they manifest and why early intervention is beneficial. Cracks and uneven surfaces don't just affect the appearance of your driveway; they can also pose safety risks and further structural degradation. By identifying signs like pooling water and unevenness early, you can mitigate potential hazards and preserve your investment. Timely recognition of these problems allows homeowners to address them proactively, avoiding more extensive damage to their driveways and the related repair costs. Keeping an eye out for these common issues in homes around Pikesville helps maintain the longevity and safety of your property.

FAQs

Patching and sealing are often the most affordable ways to fix a driveway. These methods address minor issues like surface-level cracks or a sunken driveway. Sealing protects the surface from moisture and frost heave, extending its lifespan. For more severe problems, resurfacing may be necessary. Consider consulting with a professional to assess your specific needs and budget constraints.

No, foam lifting or slab jacking generally do not require extensive excavation or heavy machinery. These methods involve injecting polyurethane foam or other materials beneath the surface to correct soil erosion and settle concrete levels. They are minimally invasive, making them faster and less disruptive than traditional methods. This approach can efficiently address issues like sunken driveways or walkway repair without major disruption.

Soil movement and freeze-thaw cycles are common causes of driveway deterioration in Pikesville. Expansive clay soil can contribute to soil erosion and foundation settlement, leading to cracks or a sunken driveway. Frost heave from the area's winter climate can also impact the surface, causing further damage. Regular maintenance like driveway sealing is crucial to manage these factors effectively.

Spring and early summer are ideal for driveway repair or replacement in Pikesville. These seasons offer favorable weather conditions for curing concrete or asphalt repair. Resurfacing and addressing trip hazards are less risky when there's minimal chance of rain or freezing temperatures. Schedule your repairs ahead for the best results and to ensure availability during peak seasons.

No, new concrete or asphalt will not bond naturally with old surfaces without preparation. Proper surface preparation, such as cleaning and the use of bonding agents, is essential to ensure adhesion in resurfacing projects. Expansion joints may be necessary to accommodate any temperature-related movement. Consulting with a professional can provide guidance on the best materials and techniques for your project.
