"We just moved into our new home and needed some foundation repairs to be done. JES foundation had done some work on the house previously but after the foundation inspection it turned out that the house needed additional work on the other side. The lead foundation inspector Rob Tennyson was very honest and clear and worked with us on a comprehensive plan for the foundation work. Once it was time to start doing the work Rob took personal time to come a day before the project to clear out the vegetation that was going to be in the way of the repairs and hauled everything on his personal truck. Top notch customer care. The next day the crew supervised by Rudy Gonzales and lead by Jose Lopez were very professional, punctual, clean and fast. Once the holes had been dug, they found out that our gas line ran too close to the house and could cause danger if they were to proceed any further. Rudy informed me and suggested that we go through our finished basement to complete the installation of the piers. The crew took care of everything and within 3 days all the work had been completed and the entire team (Victorino Joya, Ernosto Castillo, Daniel Yacilo, and Jose Rafael 6) was out of the house. Rudy went out of his way to make sure that there would be no damage to the interior or exterior of my house. Again, fantastic customer service. Highly recommended company!"

Common Causes of your Basement Problems in Bristow

Ever wondered why water seems to find its way into your basement, especially during those wet months? In Bristow, the interplay between the local weather and soil conditions plays a significant role. The area's clay-heavy soils expand when wet and shrink when dry, leading to small shifts in the ground. This constant movement can create voids around the foundation of your home, allowing water to seep into basements during heavy rains or periods of melting snow. Additionally, improper drainage in some yards or uneven ground can funnel water towards your home, further compounding the issue.

These conditions put significant stress on your home's foundation and basement. Over time, you might notice signs like cracks in the walls or the floor, doors that stick, or even water pooling in your basement. Addressing these symptoms early on is critical. When ignored, these water intrusion issues can escalate, leading to more substantial structural damage and costly repairs. By understanding the local soil behavior and moisture patterns, homeowners in Bristow can better prepare and protect their homes against the persistent challenge of basement water problems.

FAQs

Long-term savings from waterproofing your basement include reduced repair costs from water damage and possible increases in property value. By addressing basement leaks and installing moisture control methods like a sump pump or vapor barrier, you may prevent costly structural issues and mold remediation needs. Additionally, maintaining a dry basement can improve energy efficiency, which might lower utility bills over time.

No, basement leaks are not always due to foundation issues; they can also result from poor drainage or hydrostatic pressure. Water seepage can occur through wall cracks, around windows, or from plumbing leaks within the basement. Identifying the source of moisture problems is crucial for effective basement waterproofing and preventing further damage.

Expansive clay soils in Bristow can significantly contribute to water seepage in basements. This type of soil absorbs water and swells, exerting hydrostatic pressure against foundation walls, which can lead to wall cracks and basement leaks. Using effective drainage solutions and foundation waterproofing can mitigate these risks.

A basement waterproofing inspection involves assessing the basement for wall cracks, moisture problems, and signs of mold damage. Inspectors evaluate potential sources of water seepage and check for hydrostatic pressure issues. Based on findings, recommendations may be made for solutions like an interior drainage system or waterproof membrane installation.

No, not all basement waterproofing methods require digging up your yard. Interior solutions such as installing an interior drainage system or a sump pump can resolve water issues without excavating outside. However, extensive issues might still necessitate exterior solutions, so a professional inspection can best determine the approach. Consider scheduling a consultation to explore your waterproofing options.
