Stella Waltz – 2015 Women In Business Award Honoree

Virginia Beach, Va. (Dec. 16, 2015) – Stella Waltz, co-owner of JES Foundation Repair, was honored during the 2015 Women In Business Achievement Awards dinner on December 14 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. Waltz was one of fifteen women to receive the distinction. Hosted by Inside Business, the Hampton Roads Business Journal, the annual award program seeks to formally acknowledge outstanding female leaders in the community. During the ceremony, honorees were individually recognized and presented with a glass award bearing their name. The audience, comprised of nearly 300 family members, friends and colleagues, gathered in celebration of the award recipients, cheering loudly and delivering standing ovations throughout the evening.

Waltz was both surprised and excited to have been included among this year’s list of leading ladies. She and her husband, Jesse Waltz, P.E., founded JES Foundation Repair in 1993. The pair can be seen in commercials promoting the foundation repair, crawl space moisture management, and basement waterproofing products and services their Virginia Beach-based company has offered for more than two decades. The couple also owns KBH Business Management Systems, which developed Bizwiz®©, web-based, mobile-friendly software that helps residential contractors track and access real-time information about their sales, marketing, operations, installation, and production processes at the push of a button. Waltz’s role at JES encompasses many responsibilities, but she focuses heavily on strengthening company culture and marketing initiatives. With five offices and over 300 employees, she believes in creating a sense of cohesion between the locations. Each year, Waltz plans a holiday-themed “end-of-year” party complete with food, entertainment, music, and an employee awards ceremony.

Aside from juggling the demands of two companies, three children, and two dogs, Waltz passionately advocates for the American flag. Her patriotic presentations have earned her the title, “The Flag Lady.” She speaks at schools, professional organizations, civic groups, and community organizations about flag history, flag etiquette, and proper flag retirement. Her company’s headquarters has served as a collection site for worn and tattered flags since 2009. As the daughter of a World War II veteran (D-Day, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa), Waltz also makes time to applaud current and former servicemen and women. Her company recently donated their foundation repair services to a U.S. Navy veteran who just retired after 31 years of dedicated service and had run out of options for his sinking home.

In the spirit of the Women In Business Award, Waltz offered this bit of advice for women: “Find your inner ‘go for it’ attitude and work to create your own balance of personal and professional fulfillment. Strive to never make your children and/or significant-other feel that work is more important in your world than they are.”
