Stella Waltz Virginia Flag Lady Believes There’s a Right Way and a Wrong Way to Handle Old Glory

Business owner calls for respect and reverence, teaches the history and significance of the American flag
Virginia Beach, Va. (June 8, 2015) – Stella Waltz, co-owner of JES Foundation Repair, passionately advocates for the American flag. Her boundless enthusiasm for the nation’s most prized symbol of freedom comes from a childhood of rich experiences – Waltz is the daughter of a World War II veteran (D-Day, Iwo Jima and Okinawa) who taught her early on that the flag should be regarded with great care. Her mother often gave detailed accounts about wartime on the home front as well. Growing up with these familial ties to history inspired her reverence for Old Glory and eventually, led her to teach flag history and etiquette.

“I have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of our Armed Forces. It is an honor to be in a position to support their efforts,” said Waltz. “Teaching young people and adults about our flag is a privilege.”
Waltz, who launched a flag collection site at her company’s headquarters in 2008, believes in helping others understand the history and meaning behind the U.S. flag. She sees the emergence of recent viral videos — containing what many consider to be outrageous and blatant acts of disrespect toward the American flag — as an opportunity to educate people about the history and significance of Old Glory.
“I provide information in a clear and concise manner, and I hope that people will find it within themselves to make responsible decisions with regard to their behavior and our flag,” said Waltz.

Her knowledge in flag history and etiquette, as well as proper flag retirement, has been called upon by schools, civic groups, professional organizations and community associations. From veterans to school-aged children, her easy-to-follow presentations explain how to interact responsibly and respectfully with the American flag. In recognition of Flag Day, Waltz is available for media interviews, speaking engagements and public appearances.
